I have an old macbook running 10.6.8. I want iPhoto version 9 ('11), but all I can find in the app store is version 9.3, which only runs on Lion. I want iPhoto for Snow Leopard. I can see no reason why Apple has forsaken Snow Leopard. There is no reason why the App store can't have version 9.0 so both Lion and Snow Leopard users can buy it and update it to suit individual needs. Does anyone know how to get version 9.0 for Snow Leopard online?
The latest iPhoto version suitable for your imac (you really should update your 10.6 to 10.6.8; either that or update your profile) would then be iPhoto 9.2.3. This can be purchased from app store (that's where I got mine from). The other version on offer from app store is the Lion version which will not load on SL.
Iphoto For Mac Os X 10.6 8 Download
Yes I did. I guess Apple have removed 9.2.3 now that 9.3 is available (for Lion). You have to remember that Snow Leopard is on the verge of not being supported any more with the imminent arrival of Mountain Lion. You could try downloading the 10.6.8 combo updater, I suppose. You can install that safely over the top of your existing OS X. Then run software update.
Thanks, After calls to my dealer, the local Apple store, and Apple support (the store switched me there), I was able to determine that none of them stocked iLife '11. I've since ordered a copy from eBay. The problem with that is I'm buying through an un-supported channel. I would have no problem with Apple not stocking past versions of iphoto in the channel IF their current version of iphoto worked with Leopard and Snow Leopard (I won't mention Tiger) of which there are millions still in service. At the moment I have a large iphoto library (created under Tiger) with no software that can access it since I upgraded to Snow Leopard.
I have to say that I am in the same boat. Stressful nightmare trying to upgrade to snow leopard only to get home and find out there is no iphoto. Are you freaking kidding. Apple has become the 'bully nerd' that liked whipping your *** back in D&D back in middle school. The two trips to the 'Genius Bar' were a depressing joke, although I did manage the second time to restore partial functionality. The fact that they sent me home the first time to do a 'clean' install on my mac book pro is ridiculous. I had no business trying to do this and now after all that, I find out Apple wants more blood. Come on, man. The gluttony is obscene.
There is no way to legally download the latest version of iPhoto for free, as it only came 'free' with brand new Macs for a few years (and has now been replaced on the newest Macs with an app just called "Photos"). With the new Macs that qualified for the free downloads, the first time you signed in to the App Store you would be prompted to "Accept" iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband which would then bind these apps to your Apple ID as purchases (although they were free). At this point you could then technically download them on all machines that you owned for free, provided they met system requirements and you remembered your Apple ID and password (no activation key required).
I am wanting to move all my iPhoto pix from the computer that I am preparing to upgrade to OS 10.10 and have tried to move them via flash drive to a computer running 10.6.8, which is where this one is until I upgrade it. I could not find iPhoto on the older computer and tried to bring it over on the flash drive and it copied fine BUT will not install or open. I got some error message. I had already checked the App Store and all I can find is the latest version that requires 10.10 and I cannot get it with the OS 10.6.8. How can I get an iPhoto on the 10.6.8 computer so that I can see what came over?
If your computer did not come with iPhoto preinstalled, you can buy iLife '11 installers from Amazon or eBay, but it would be more economic first to upgrade to Yosemite, then you will be able to download iPhoto 9.6 for free.
I have the DVD for OS 10.6.5 in right now but cannot see iPhoto. I will wait until it finishes to see but have my doubts. How in the world did iPhoto get on the computers to start with? Even my dinosaur 2006 vintage MacBook has it. How can I get it without buying some disc somewhere? I have all the old OS install discs in my safe so was it any of them? I have 10., 10.3, and 10.2 in my safe. Thanks.
I am wondering if anyone has an idea which install had the iPhoto included in it. I have discs from 10.0 on up to 10.6. This would enable me (I think) to install the app on the other computer and then work with iPhoto. Thanks.
System upgrades sold separately did not include iPhoto and other iLife apps. Only the installer disks that came with a new computer. If you originally bought your Mac with macOs 10.6.xx, then look at the original installer disks, the second disk with the bundles applications.
iLife 09 requires OS X 10.5.6 or later. iWork 09 requires OS X 10.4.11, the last version of Tiger, or 10.5.6 or later. Both are compatible with both PowerPC and Intel Macs. iLife 11 requires OS X 10.6.3 and only works with Intel Macs.
There are some iPhoto recovery apps in the Internet claiming to get back all lost iPhoto photos, but few of them work. Through our tests, we find Data Recovery for Mac is the top 1 tool that can 100% recover deleted or lost photos from iPhoto library. It works perfectly well on all Mac computers, such as MacBook Pro, iMac, MacBook Air, Mac Pro, and it is well compatible with macOS 10.12 Sierra, Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite, 10.9 Mavericks, 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.7, 10.6 and lower.
UPDATE: Apple has discontinued support for iPhoto. You can download its replacement, Photos for Mac, by upgrading to OS X Yosemite for free. If you're already running Yosemite, you can download Photos for Mac by checking for updates in the Mac App Store.
I've got three 10.6 computers that won't install OS X updates. Checking for new software will show about a dozen updates (Security updates, Safari, iPhoto, printers, etc) and if choose install it downloads them. After downloading and then clicking restart the computer sits at the purplish sky desktop with no progress bar, and then after about 3 minutes it goes back to the login window (without ever installing or restarting).
If I then select check for updates the same updates will all be presented and I can repeat the process. Manually downloading and installing an update such as 10.6.8 combo updater works as it should, and then check for updates no longer presents that particular update as an option.
In March 2012, one of the certificates that Apple signed their updates with expired. Any update downloaded before then will not run without errors. I don't remember what was written to the system log.
The solution is to re-download the updates, or, temporarily set your system clock to (before March, 2012). If the updates have already been downloaded, you don't need a network connection while they are installed. And, after the installation completes, you can reset your system clock back to the proper date.
I had the same issue, a 10.6.8 combo update I had downloaded a couple of years ago now refuses to install, with no valid reason. Software update appears not to see the need of a 10.6.8 update even though the OSX is still on 10.6. I also note that I can no longer find the full 10.6.8 combo updater on Apple Downloads website.
To update your operating system, click the menu at the upper left of your screen, choose App Store, and then click Updates at the top of the App Store window. You see a list of updated software patiently waiting to be installed on your machine. Locate the update named OS X Update Version 10.10.3 (or later) and click Update. Your Mac downloads the update, restarts, and installs the new version.
The new Mac App Store is just like the iOS App Store for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. So, if you've shopped for mobile apps before, it should be a breeze for you to find and download Mac applications. You can browse Mac apps by category, such as games, productivity, music, and more. Or do a quick search for something specific. Read developer descriptions and user reviews. Flip through screenshots. When you find an app you like, click to buy it.
To see the Mac App Store in all its glory, start using it! Or visit the Mac App Store webpage on Apple for more information about purchasing and downloading applications and updating them in the future. 2ff7e9595c
